I Am Michael
will open this year’s BFI Flare LGBT film festival tonight.
London’s annual celebration of LGBT cinema from around the world will run until March 29 at Southbank’s BFI cinema.
The biopic, which stars James Franco and Zachary Quinto, tells the true story of Michael Glatze, the co-founder of Young Gay America and a strong advocate for gay rights, who later denounced homosexuality after a health scare. Turning to religion, he became a pastor and married a woman in 2013.
Franco will appear in the title role, while Quinto stars as Glatze’s former boyfriend Bennett. American Horror Story actress Emma Roberts, Charlie Carver and Kill Bill actress Daryl Hannah will also feature in the film.
Tickets for the festival are available now – but get in quick as, many sessions are sold out!
This year the festival takes on a truly global feel, with five short films available for audiences in more than 50 countries thanks to the online BFI Player – more info here.
