Check out the hottest looks from 080 Barcelona Fashion Week

Here are the looks we loved on the runway this month.

By Nick Byam

It’s pretty much fashion week somewhere in the world from January to March, and earlier this month Attitude headed over to the biannual 080 Barcelona Fashion Week to see what 32 international brands are serving up this season.

The five-day event which was again held at Hospital de Sant Pau and saw many of Spain’s leading designers present their collections to press and some select members of the public.

Here are some of our highlights

Punto Blanco

Underwear label Punto Blanco started in 2006 selling premium underwear and now stocks, underwear, sleepwear and loungewear.

This season saw a focus on the importance of taking care of the environment, Punto Blanco have incorporated concepts such as sky, water and land into its collection.

With a pallet of blues, greys, black and a starry nighttime print, the collection saw a mixture of top quality materials, high-end finishes and recycled fabrics. T-shirts which are adorned with messages aimed at raising awareness.

Mietis

Founded by Maria Fontanellas, Mietis’s new Fall/Winter 18 collection took us on a safari to Wonderland.

Having studied fashion in Milan, Fontanella’s family leather-tanning tradition meant the deisnger found herself back in Barcelona where she put the quality of leather and cutting edge style at the heart of her brand.

With a bold aesthetic of  bright piping, curved seams and oversized collars and opulent details, the new collection drew inspiration from a glam rock era.

Strong hues of blues, blacks, reds and yellows gave the menswear a vibrant look, set against a monochromatic backdrop, allowing the bold, pieced-together leather to stand out.

Creating a patchwork of different coloured leather and striking shapes, the collections’ menswear pieces are for those who want to stand out and feel ostentatious.

ES Collection

Undoubtedly our favourite show of the week, ES Collection has gone from strength to strength since Carmen Monforte took creative control in 2006.

Originally a label offering simple yet luxury swim and underwear, the brand has since expanded to leisure and sportswear.

For FW18 the collection takes inspirations from the slopes, featuring mesh onesies, thermal vests, pleather joggers, faux fur hats, and a whole variety of jackets and coats. The fact each model was more buff then the last certainly didn’t hurt the show’s success, either…

Brain & Beast

Founded in 2010 by Angel Vilda, Brain & Beast finished the week on a high, with a presentation that followed the Spanish designer’s tradition of presenting looks as games and puzzles.

Brain & Beast are renowned for garments which channel contemporary culture with a healthy dose ofsophistication and a serious sense of humor.

Logos from the likes of Grindr and North Face were given a Brain & Beast makeover over deconstructed denim, tracksuits and formalwear as models made their own statement in eye-patches and facepaint.

A huge thanks to Eva and 080 Barcelona Fashion Week – find out more about all the designers at 080barcelonafashion.
