It’s ok, you can admit it, everybody loves a bad boy, and now there is a fragrance for you to indulge in by the same name.
Carolina Herrera has tapped into the romantic notion of the lovable rogue as inspiration for their latest fragrance, ‘Bad Boy’.
For the face of the fragrance, who better to enlist than disarmingly handsome Deadpool star Ed Skrein? The British actor, who has also appeared in Game of Thrones, Hellboy, Alita: Battle Angel, adds electricity to the campaign, that revamps the idea of the rebel.
Known for roughing up for film roles, the Hollywood film star from East London has a much more artistic side to him, having started out being a musician and studying fine-art and is a fan of celebrated Bradford-born, iconic LGBTQ artist, David Hockney.
Duality is important not just in the campaign, but also in the eau du toilette itself. Even the lightning bolt shaped bottle is giving us David Bowie feels, playing with the notions of a typical masculine tropes of male fragrances.
The scent itself plays about with both the masculine and the feminine, incorporating bright vert de bergamot, white and pink pepper, with darker and sumptuous tonka, cocoa and cedarwood, giving a touch of sweetness and richness to proceedings.
“I have been thinking about this project for a while: I wanted to design a fragrance that would capture new masculinity,” Carolina Herrera de Baez, creative director of fragrances at Carolina Herrera says.
“The idea was to craft an exquisite perfume, based on a ground-breaking formula, built around contrast and rich ingredients.
“It had to be contained in an impressive flacon which would feature an iconic symbol. The image had to be not only creative but also committed.”
The infamous motto ‘It’s so good to be bad’ is definitely charging through the Bad Boy video campaign, and is making us want to get into all kinds of trouble with Ed. Bad is the new good.
The new fragrance is priced at £75 for 100ml and will be available from January 29.
