Drag Race royalty, Bianca Del Rio, wants to set up a drag museum with fellow season winner, Bob the Drag Queen, and we are fully on board.
The season six winner revealed she has been speaking to her season eight sister about the idea when she spoke to Attitude for Fashionlista, sponsored by Marks and Spencer.
Taking a look at some of her looks over the years, which Bianca reduces down to “one dress in every colour”, Bianca is shocked on occasion and in others is pleasantly surprised.
Laughing at an image of her in a gown she calls “the sock dress” Bianca shares that it was made of yards of elasticised fabric to create a Fran Drescher in Nanny-like gown.
“It’s not my best look, but I thought I was fierce then. And it’s a bar in New Orleans that I started in. It was probably 1997 maybe?”
“It was a different time,” Bianca recalls. “People didn’t respond to drag queens as they do [now]. And there was even bars in New Orleans, where I’m from, that I weren’t [sic] allowed in because I was a drag queen and they were ‘manly’ bars and so drag queens weren’t accepted.
“Now they run out of the bar to say hello queen! can we get a selfie?'” marvels Bianca.
Speaking candidly of her entry look to Drag Race S6 Bianca reveals it wasn’t what she wanted to wear but had been told to wear something “that could be manipulated, it could get ripped, it could be soiled, it could be problematic, so wear something you wouldn’t regret ruining and that’s why I wore that dress”.
Switching to her finale look, an all-black glittery dress complete with a colourful detail Bianca says she didn’t know what to wear.
After reviewing her Attitude cover shoot the hilarious clown queen mentioned the idea of a drag museum, which she’d love to work on.
“Bob the Drag Queen and I have talked about it and I want to make it happen. To actually show what’s involved and what it takes to be a drag queen.”
As well as Bianca, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK alumni Tayce, ‘Love’s Got a Hold of My Heart’ singers Steps, and artist and Instagram sensation Alexis Stone will also look back at their past outfits.
