On Friday (2 August) night at Venice Film Festival, Timothée Chalamet stepped out in a blood-red backless look and fans lost their minds.

The 26-year-old actor caused a commotion with his all-red ensemble designed by Haider Ackerman, he wore a backless and sleeveless shimmering halter top with matching trousers paired with dark leather boots and cat eye sunglasses.

Chalamet reunites with Luca Guadagnino, director of Call Me By Your Name, for the Italian filmmaker’s new film Bones and All, which sees Chalamet and Taylor Russell play cannibals in love.

The actor’s fans had a lot to say about his latest look, sharing their thoughts online.

One fan tweeted: “your honor.. i let the timothée chalamet crush me”.

Another shared that Chalamet’s Venice look is part of a series: “timothée chalamet in his journey to the complete nud[i]ty”.

“God created man by mistake and sent Timothée Chalamet as an apology,” one tweet reads.

Another quipped: “timothée chalamet is giving slutty mr tumnus at venice film festival rn i cant lie”

Some, however, offered up criticism of Chalamet’s reception: “Straight men like Timothée Chalamet can wear clothes like this and be hailed as “brave” and “trailblazer”. Meanwhile actual gay people have been dressing like this for decades and they’re bullied, ostracized or forgotten. Can straight men stop appropriating queer culture? *yawn*”
