A few years ago, Christian Larson and Andreas Palm were working together, travelling the world and making films. The two close friends were always on the road and ended up sharing a lot of hotel rooms. While doing so, they inevitably became intimately familiar with each other’s underwear. And what they saw… well, it disturbed them.
The duo set out on a mission to create the best underwear possible. To not just help men look better, but feel more confident. CDLP’s briefs, boxers and long johns are crafted from Lyocell, an organic fibre derived from wood pulp. Unlike cotton, Lyocell is breathable and wicks moisture away from the body, while maintaining both shape and colour, and being much more environmentally friendly. In short, it is a far superior material than cotton for underwear, supplying the quality, comfort and durability which the designers were searching for.
Now, Christian and Andreas are spreading the CDLP word, setting out to tell a different kind of story about men’s underwear – one based on an ‘intellectual masculinity’ that doesn’t just rely on glistening hunks and rippling six-packs, but revels in a sophisticated aesthetic, effortless style and subtle sense of humour. “It’s an important part of starting your day. I really do think that our pants feel so damn good,” says Christian. “I just want to put on a great pair of pants in the morning, and feel more confident and great about myself.”
