Alexis Turner’s ‘Taxidermy’ Book Review

By Attitude Magazine

We all like to keep ourselves busy at the weekend with a great hobby or two. There are many hobbies we can choose from, such as painting, cooking, cycling, dating (yes some people date more often than they go to the gym) and many more. Taxidermy is become increasingly popular- whether they are used in photo shoots, in shop windows or doing a trendy class in the art form (how East London! ) There is a great book- Taxidermy by Alexis Turner (published by Thames & Hudson at £19.95) that explores the past and present of this extraordinary art form.

Throe, detail 2

Alexis Turner of London’s book Taxidermy is the definitive book on the subject, illustrated with beautiful images throughout from every animal from Squirrels to Zebras. No longer confined to stately homes, stuffed animals are appearing everywhere, from modern apartments to luxury department stores (have you seen Ted Bakers pigeon flocks in-store?), and even on our cinema screens on sets such as Harry Potter, Les Miserables and Anna Karenina. Our very own dead famous, (bad pun usage- and it stays) Maleficent megastar, Angelina Jolie has even been reported to have an interest, once preserving a dead bird found by her daughter (Oh Ange!) If it’s spiked your interest, like  Angelina’s, then we recommend you take a peek at this book:
