Alison Goldfrapp: ‘I don’t like to be defined by my sexuality’
By Sam Rigby
Alison Goldfrapp has said that she doesn’t like to be “defined” by her sexuality.
The singer-songwriter – who is in a relationship with film-maker Lisa Gunning – also spoke about Goldfrapp’s new music video for Drew, which features sexual scenes.
In the age-restricted music video, a clothed Goldfrapp is seen slow-dancing with a naked woman, and there is also a scene with the woman and two men tangled up in bed together.
She told the London Evening Standard: “I don’t know why people would find it surprising. Everything we’ve ever done — the music, the looks, the shows — has all been quite ambiguous and undefinable, and that’s how I am.
“I don’t like to be defined by my sexuality, which swings wherever I like to swing.”
Goldfrapp has previously dated men, but in 2009 a newspaper revealed that she was in a gay relationship with Gunning.
