Björn Borg presents Spring Summer 2016 collection
This week the fashion team went to Mars via Stockholm for the Björn Borg SS16. The show took place on the first day of the seasonal event, which saw a Mars-inspired experience for the retro-themed collection. The collection and show space was located underneath a motorway bridge in the city of Stockholm and was all based around the Space Initiative Mars One.
The SS16 collection, along with a special capsule collection designed in collaboration with stylist Naomi Itkes, took inspiration from the history of space travel, particularly the space race of the 60s and 70s. By looking to retro styles, colours and silhouettes from this era and clashing them together with modern, high performance materials, detailing and techniques, Björn Borg has created a collection that pays homage the past, and offers a perfect fit for the ultimate challenge: training for Mars.
Some of Sweden’s top models walked the red sanded circular runway.
We spotted tennis legend and the man who started the brand, Björn Borg himself, in the front row along with everyone’s favourite Swedish blonde pop goddess Robyn and current Eurovision winner Mans Zelmerlow. Also perched on the front row was the genius behind Mars One, Bas Lansdrop and four of the 100 candidates who maybe setting up camp on Mars – for good.
We’ve got show and backstage photos below, so take a look…
