David Gandy in M&S ‘Spark Something Good’ Campaign
Marks & Spencer have launched a new initiative motivating employees and customers to take action for social good. It’s more about giving your time, rather than your money, with M&S encouraging people to donate their time to their local communities to improve lives up and down the country.
Last week, Spark Something Good completed 24 community projects in London in 24 hours. One of the projects was very dear to one of M&S’s main men, David Gandy. Achievement for All works with disadvantaged and special needs children in 400o schools across the UK, helping them with literacy, numeracy and social skills.
One of the schools in the scheme was Maria Fidelis School in Camden, which is fostering an environment where students can improve their literacy and numeracy skills while learning essential life skills.
David said about the scheme: “I’m supporting M&S’s Spark Something Good initiative to help them encourage and empower people across the country to pick up a shovel, paint brush and take action for social good. I’ve learnt from the charities that I support and work with that it’s not always donations that are of the greatest benefit, but peoples’ time and effort really counts. By donating time and expertise it’s not only the charity that benefits, but the local community does too. I love the idea of people coming together to make a difference. Last week in London we showed exactly what can be achieved within a very short 24-hour period.”
