First same-sex couple to dance on ‘Strictly’ this weekend
By Josh Haggis
A same-sex couple will feature on Strictly Come Dancing for the first time in the show’s 10-year history this weekend (November 23).
Robin Windsor said recently that he had spoken to BBC bosses about the possibility of a same-sex couple appearing on the show, suggesting that they could compete on either the show’s one-off Children in Need or Christmas specials to “test the waters”. Find out more here.
During an appearance on Strictly’s sister show It Takes Two this week, Windsor – who is returning to the contest after a recent injury – revealed that a same-sex couple will appear in a routine during Sunday night’s results show, though not prominently.
“There’s some very special moves this week. I’m actually dancing with Aljaž [Skorjanec],” Windsor confirmed.
Meanwhile, Scott Mills insisted recently that there is no homophobia on the show, after some viewers called for the gay Radio 1 DJ to be paired with a man during this year’s series – click here to read Scott Mills’s comments.
