Hilary Duff: ‘I’m recording an Ed Sheeran song’
By Josh Haggis
Hilary Duff has revealed that she is recording a song written by British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.
The former Disney star, who now has a son, two-year-old Luca Cruz, is currently working on her first album of new material since 2007’s Dignity.
Speaking to MTV News about the album at LA’s iHeartRadio Music Awards earlier this week, the 26-year-old said: “I’m working with a lot of people. I’m still writing, so that process is still going on. I’m cutting an Ed Sheeran song next week, which I’m really excited about.”
However, Duff did not reveal whether she is covering one of Sheeran’s own songs, or whether the Suffolk-born singer-songwriter is penning a song especially for her. Sheeran has previously written songs for One Direction, including the boyband’s 2012 hit Littlest Things.
During the interview, Duff also promised fans they won’t have to wait too long to hear her new material, saying: “I should have a single soon, and an album by the fall.”
After starring in Disney series Lizzie McGuire, Duff went on to release three studio albums, which all secured top three placings on the US Billboard 200 albums chart. In the UK, she’s best known for her top ten hits So Yesterday and Wake Up.
