In pics | Eastpak launch Artist Studio Collection
By Josh Lee
American bag brand Eastpak have announced the official designer line-up for its 2016 edition of Artist Studio, a project in partnership with the charity organisation Designers Against Aids (DAA). This year, the list of brands joining the project includes label of the moment Vetements, as well as Giambattista Valli, Nicopanda, House of Holland, Ami Paris and more.
Kenzo is also taking part, following on from its recent collaboration with H&M, released last month – for those who missed it, take this as a second chance to get in on the action.
Since Artist Studio launched in 2010, designers such as Manolo Blahnik, Jean Paul Gaultier and Walter Van Beirendonck have been putting their unique spin on a blank Eastpak classic Padded Pak’r backpack for five years, reconstructing and reinventing the brand’s most iconic bag.
Nicopanda and House of Holland’s offerings are suitably vibrant, combining faux-fur and neon, whilst Vetements chose to keep it classic with a black body and bright red straps.
Through Eastpak’s work with Designers Against Aids (DAA), the collection raises much-needed funds in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Based in Belgium, DAA uses the medium of fashion to increase awareness of HIV/AIDS in the mainstream media by partnering with some of the world’s most creative and renowned design talent.
The organisation encourages young people to protect themselves and their partner, as ‘prevention is the only cure for HIV/AIDS’ as well as to get tested and ‘know your status’.
The collection will go on sale December 1st to coincide with World AIDS day. Check out the bags below and shop the collection now at eastpak.com.
