Jennifer Lopez has been announced as this year’s recipient of Billboard’s Icon Award.

The If You Had My Love singer will be presented with the prize for her outstanding contribution to music at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards later this month.

Lopez will also give the first live performance of her new single First Love, as well as taking to the stage with Pitbull to perform their FIFA World Cup anthem We Are One (Ole Ola).

“Jennifer Lopez is one of the most iconic performers of her generation,” said Larry Klein, producer of the Billboard Music Awards. “We are thrilled to honor her historic career with the 2014 Icon Award and will be on the edge of our seats like everyone else when she takes the stage.”

The Icon Award was introduced three years ago and has already honoured Neil Diamond, Prince and Stevie Wonder.

5 Seconds of Summer, OneRepublic and Jason Derulo are among the other artists who will take to the stage at the ceremony, which takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 18.
