has become Katy Perry’s ninth Number One on America’s Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart.

The trap-inspired track, which features vocals from rapper Juicy J, climbs from two to one this week, replacing Ke$ha and Pitbull’s Timber in the top spot.

Dark Horse is the second US chart-topper from Perry’s third album PRISM, which came out last October. Lead single Roar also reached Number One, but follow-up Unconditionally was a relative disappointment for Perry, stalling at number eleven.

“This Number One is the most unexpected one I’ve ever had,” Perry told Billboard. “Dark Horse has been a dark horse of a song, since August when the KatyCats voted to release it early on iTunes, before PRISM even came out. I’m so thrilled and grateful to have these moments.”

Katy Perry’s nine US Number Ones, in chronological order, are: I Kissed a Girl, California Gurls, Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T., Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), Part of Me, Roar and Dark Horse.

So far, Dark Horse has peaked at number 21 on the UK’s Official Singles Chart – and it sits at number 26 in today’s midweeks.
