Ke$ha extends stay in rehab to treat eating disorders
By Josh Haggis
Ke$ha has postponed her upcoming US tour in order to extend her stay in rehab.
The Die Young singer checked into rehab on January 3 to seek treatment for anorexia and bulimia.
In a statement to People confirming the postponement of her tour, the singer said: “I look forward to coming back stronger than ever on the next tour.”
She added: “I was so looking forward to performing at these dates but I need to follow my doctor’s advice and get my health back on track. All of your support during this time has been so amazing. I couldn’t have done this without you all. I look forward to coming back stronger than ever on the next tour.”
Ke$ha’s mother, who has co-written a number of the singer’s hit singles, checked into the same rehab facility at the same time, seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.
Ke$ha shot to fame in 2009 when her summer smash Tik Tok topped the charts worldwide. She’s since gone on to release a string of hit singles – including the gay rights anthem We R Who We R.
Her collaboration with rapper Pitbull, Timber, reached number one in the UK last month (January). She released her first self-directed music video, for the track Dirty Love from her second album Warrior, just days before entering rehab.
