LC:M Day 3, powered by Renault

By Joseph Kocharian

Day 3 took us all over the town, so our Attitude x Renault was able to show us what it could do as we whizzed around central London, from Holborn to Park Lane, to Farringdon then down to Lambeth and back along the river!

We started the day with J. W. Anderson, whose collection subtly touched on the 70’s, with a standout brown ombré striped coat and some excellent use of colours. Over-sized scarves with frayed fringes, shearling and the leaner silhouette appeared on the catwalk, which was covered in purple cork. HunterGather and Margaret Howell both kept the 70’s flag flying through day three with their color palette, shearlings, slick simple turtle necks and mood to match.

From there we headed to James Long, who pushed the idea of functional clothes into the realm of something elevated. The collars of the jackets and were over-sized, the denim distressed and the utility pockets over-sized to highlight the function and also the decoration prowess to the collection. Lace detailing on hoods and mesh jackets kept any danger of being to functional at bay, with a strong collection full of more commercial pieces too.

Park Lane was the venue were all the celebs crammed in to watch the Richard James show- including our former cover stars Andrew Scott, David Gandy and Oliver Cheshire who were treated to some great pieces, including a great zig zag red and white poncho with pom Pom detailing and embroidered slippers and scarves to add frivolity to his suiting.

Later we found ourselves in a warehouse amongst army vehicles for Sarah Burton’s WW1 & WW11 influenced show. Military coats came in not only the traditional olive, but also bright blues and reds. Embroidered medals on tailoring, and poppy prints all marched out onto the runway with cropped trousers. Floral panels diagonally cut through Blazers as well as slogans of ‘truth’ ‘honour’ and ‘valour’. The colour palette was quite somber, with very subtle patterns in crimson reds, greys and blacks. This was punctuated more hopeful hues of electric blue and powerful reds.

We ended up hopping over the river from Lambeth in the Golden Renault to an underground car park opposite The Houses of Parliament to attend the Belstaff presentation. We walked down into the carpark to riders in their and the chatted amongst themselves and their motorcycles and petrol fumes. In the underground diner, complete with black and white tiles, the Belstaff boys, clad in autumn winter (complete with live rock band) greeted us. The whole space was a hive of energy with which made us feel like we had discovered a secret gig… cue the live rock band that started to play on the stage. The boys in the diner were channeling the ‘ton up boys’ and in turn, Brando but the rider gear had a truly British feeling to it. Fitting to be so close to one of London’s most recognised buildings, it was the epitome of cool.

Moschino took us to a winter wonderland- female supermodel Jourdan Dunn stole they show, and male super model Rob Evans representing for the men, who filled out a pair of thermals very nicely. As they synthetic snow fell all around (complete with Christmas trees) it was a veritable winter wonderland full of everything your imagination could want- there were metallic quilted coats, giant jewel encrusted coats, bedazzled bags and metallic everything. Ski boots, wrap arounds bundled around scantily clad models we’re mixed with mismatched checks, shiny trousers and every different type of hat you could think of- including a party crown- with fun touches like this, mixed with sequin coats and trousers, poppy brights- it was almost all your childhood dreams come true.

As we climbed back into our Renault, we were halted by a slew of paparazzi taking photos, as we navigated past we saw the star of the show, Jourdan Dunn was the subject to the photos, as we wound down the window to get a better look, she noticed us, flashed us her incredible smile and purred an friendly ‘hello!’ to the attitude Renault mobile members, before finishing her obligations to the paparazzi. A good day three, we think you’ll agree?
