Levi’s celebrate LGBTQ community with Pride Collection
Levi’s go way back in terms of supporting the fight for equality in the LGBTQ community. In fact, they were the first company to offer health benefits to those in same-sex domestic partnerships – pioneering a practice followed by many other companies.
“In 2007, we were the only California business to file an amicus curiae (friend of the court) brief with the California Supreme Court in support of marriage equality. In 2013, LS&Co. was proud to join the broad coalition of marriage equality supporters urging the U.S. Supreme Court to recognize fundamental right of all Americans to marry,” say Levi’s.
It’s great to see a brand simultaneously celebrate and be proactive in making a positive change for the LGBTQ community:
“We have been advocating for the passage of the Tax Equity for Domestic Partner and Health Plan Beneficiaries Act, which would provide uniform tax treatment for all U.S. employees. And just this year, we’ve signed on to several marriage equality amicus briefs at the state level.”
Last year as part of LGBT Pride month they brought us a Pride-inspired collection, and this year they have done the same, with a Stonewall-themed collection that will be on sale in the month of June in selected U.S. stores. Complete with badges, customisations and plenty of rainbow flags embroidered on their denim, caps, vests and t-shirts, the collection nods to that milestone in LGBTQ history, the 1969 Stonewall Riots.
Alas these beauties are only available in the U.S. and online, but we wanted to show you these so you can lust after them!
