Lykke Li announces album packed with power ballads
By Josh Haggis
Cult popstar Lykke Li has announced a pair of London shows for this May – as well as revealing details about her new album.
The Swedish singer-songwriter will release her third studio album I Never Learn on May 5. She will then take to the stage at the capital’s trendy Village Underground venue on May 8 and 9.
The album is the follow-up to 2011’s critically-acclaimed Wounded Rhymes, whose breakout single I Follow Rivers was covered on Glee.
Speaking about her new record, Li said in a press release: “Every song on the album is a power ballad. Like one of those old radio stations. This is a slow dance; a slow burner.”
The album has been co-produced by the singer’s long-time collaborator Björn Yttling, Lily Allen producer Greg Kurstin and Li herself. The video for its lead single, Love Me Like I’m Not Made of Stone, premiered on Pitchfork earlier today (March 4).
