Naughty Boy and Sam Smith’s single La La La has passed one million sales in the UK.

The track – which topped the charts in May 2013 – is the 148th single to break the sales barrier.

La La La became the first number one for both artists, with Smith going on to score two solo number ones in the first half of 2014.

Smith admitted that he was originally unsure about recording the song, saying: “The fact that La La La has sold so many copies and broken so many boundaries is unbelievable. I was actually really worried about releasing that track because I didn’t want to be known as a featured artist.

“I couldn’t have been more wrong!” he added.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry’s Firework and Pitbull’s Ne-Yo collaboration Give Me Everything have also passed 1m sales in the last few weeks.

Smith’s debut album In The Lonely Hour topped the charts last month, becoming the fastest-selling debut album of the year so far.
