‘s creators have teased Frozen character Elsa’s upcoming appearance on the show.
The character appeared briefly in the recent season finale of the hit US fantasy series, but will return for a more substantial role in the upcoming third season.
The show’s creators, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, have now explained that they plan to add their own slant to the “misunderstood” princess.
“Will there be our own elements put to it? Yes. Like all things like we do with Snow White or Peter Pan or Captain Hook, we take our own kind of twist on it but remaining faithful to the actual essence of the character,” they told Entertainment Weekly, before adding: “The thing we love about Elsa is she is a character that is perceived to be a villain but is clearly misunderstood, and that goes to the heart of our show.”
Meanwhile, Frozen has recently become the fifth highest-grossing film of all-time. Disney’s animated musical has now taken over $1.2 billion (£712 million) at the global box office, overtaking Iron Man 3 to claim a place in the top five box office hits ever.
Despite the ongoing success of Frozen, Disney said in April that it has yet to discuss a sequel – and is currently focusing on the Broadway adaptation of the smash hit film instead.
