Rihanna mocks TLC over ‘boobie cakes’ criticism
By Josh Haggis
Rihanna has hit back, craftily, after R&B girlband TLC appeared to criticise her revealing outfit choices.
Earlier this week (June 2), the Barbadian diva was honoured with a ‘Style Icon’ award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards – and attended the event wearing a sheer outfit covered in crystals that revealed her breasts (pictured).
During an appearance on Australian morning show Sunrise yesterday (June 6), TLC band-member T-Boz criticised artists that feel the need to wear revealing outfits, saying:
“Every time I see you, you don’t have to be naked. We sold and became the biggest girl-selling group of all-time with our clothes on – that says a lot. It’s easy to sell sex… we can go around with boobie cakes out all day long.”
Presumably in response to T-Boz’s comments, Rihanna has now changed the header of her Twitter header to a picture of TLC posing topless in a photo shoot back in the day.
Responding to the controversy, T-Boz tweeted in defence of herself – saying that Rihanna’s name was never mentioned during the interview.
TLC – now a two-piece comprising T-Boz and Chilli – are currently working on their fifth studio album, and first since 2002’s 3D, which is expected to be released later this year.
