Róisín Murphy announces brand new EP of Italian songs
By Josh Haggis
Róisín Murphy has announced the release of a new EP.
Mi Senti will be released in May, and is a collection of six Italian songs – including five covers of classic pop hits from Italian singers and songwriters, and one original song by Murphy.
The singer said in a press release: “Quite apart from the language, in some of the songs I was on the edge of what my voice can do. For the songs by [much-loved Italian pop singer] Mina in particular [‘Ancora Ancora Ancora’ and ‘Non Credere’] there were tears and I almost walked away and gave up.”
Murphy recorded the EP over the past year, along with producers Sebastiano Properzi and Eddy Stevens.
The 40-year-old singer also revealed that she is currently working on the follow-up to her 2007 album Overpowered, which reached the top 20 in the UK on release.
Mi Senti will be released on May 28.
