Rugby player-turned-model Sean Sanders flexes for Attitude

By Attitude Magazine

Sean Sanders is a 24-year-old former rugby player turned model from Cape Town in South Africa. He’s also this month’s Attitude Active guy, featured in our current September Style issue. We thought we’d give our readers online a little taste of the handsome, super-fit fellow…

What’s your fitness regime like?

I actually think I have a fitness problem. If I don’t train, I’m essentially on my period; I get moody, I get temperamental. I train every day of the week. I used to be a rugby player, so it used to be a lot of weight training, but obviously since I’ve become a model, I have had to get smaller and smaller.

So how would you describe the work that you do?

There is a lot more cardio and a lot more high intensity infiltrating, so I work out for an hour and a half a day. I like to mix it up – I don’t do heavy weights but I do go light to medium weights and do a lot more bodyweight exercises.

And what about the diet and lifestyle to go with that?

I have a holistic approach to diets, so I try not to go good, then bad. I try to be 100% healthy all of the time. I like to eat low carbs, and mix it up a bit, but generally tend just to eat really healthily and try to avoid artificial sugars, fats, etc.. I like to go out and I like to have a drink, but I’m not one to party too hard.

Are you happy with the way your body is at the moment?

I still have a lot of goals. I’d like to be a lot smaller so I won’t get as tired as I currently am when I’m running. I like to excel at whatever I do, so I want to be able to run at my best, which means I have to be lighter and not carrying as much weight.

You’ve been modelling for three and a half years now – what is more important to you: looking good or feeling healthy?

I think it is a bit of both, to be honest. I think it is important to look and feel good – when I am working out or looking good, then it affects how I feel about myself and how I carry myself.
