RuPaul’s Drag Race star Kornbread Jeté shares cancer diagnosis
Kornbread shares her diagnosis is "absolutely curable" and she is“ready to get back to the stage again”.
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 14 competitor Kornbread ‘The Snack’ Jeté has shared that she has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma, a type of cancer in the small intestine.
“I’m 100 percent fine and everything is in the early stages so I’ll be back to my normal self in no time,” she said in a statement on Instagram, adding that the diagnosis is “absolutely curable!”
The 30-year-old American drag queen used the announcement to emphasise the need for people to regularly check their health and ensure they are examined.
“I say this to let everyone know that no matter how young you are, please get regular check ups,” she wrote. “I’m glad I caught mine at this stage.”
Kornbread adds that while a lot of her health-related life will change, she remains “grateful for all the support.”
She concludes that she is “ready to get back to the stage again”.
The drag queen quickly became a fan favourite for her season, making herstory with Kerri Colby as it marked the first time Drag Race featured two openly trans women in the original American series.
Kornbread is also set to appear in Disney+’s Hocus Pocus 2 as Mary Sanderson, a character portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker in the original alongside Season 13 alum Kahmora who plays the drag version of Sarah Sanderson.
Following her appearance on Drag Race cut short due to injury, Kornbread ‘The Snack’ Jeté confirmed she wouldn’t return for season 15 or appear on All Stars any time soon due to her focus on her theatre and acting career.
