Sarah Harding on launching solo career: ‘It’s really scary’
Former Girls Aloud member Sarah Harding has spoken candidly about launching her solo career.
Chatting exclusively to Attitude at our 20th birthday party at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Saturday night (March 29), Harding admitted: “It’s really scary, especially coming from my background – what I’ve experienced and what I’ve done.”
Harding, who played her debut solo gig at London’s O2 Academy Islington last Wednesday (March 26), went on to admit that she now feels like a new artist.
“I think if you’re working your way up organically as a new and up-and-coming artist, you appreciate what you’re achieving more by doing it that way,” she explained. “I’m doing it with baby steps. I’m not going to just rush something out there that’s doesn’t mean anything to me.”
Continuing, Harding gave a few teasers about how her solo material is shaping up, saying: “Everything I do, and that I feel I do best, is very upbeat, uptempo and fun or with a bit of an edge. I just want everything to tell a story and express who I am as a person at the same time, so that people get an idea of who I am.”
During the interview, Harding also said she is still in touch with the other members of Girls Aloud.
“I was Facetiming with Nadine the other night,” she recalled, before revealing that she had met her former bandmate’s baby daughter online.
“She’s beautiful. I couldn’t stop cooing and saying ‘oh my God’ with an Irish accent,” Harding added.
Attitude‘s 20th birthday party took place on Saturday night (March 29) at The Grosvenor House Hotel in central London and featured exclusive performances from The Overtones and Holly Johnson, plus a DJ set from our first ever cover star, Boy George.
