Sporting Heroes in association with Holland & Barrett (16-20)

By Will Stroude

PrintWith a long hot summer ahead of us, we thought it was the perfect time to celebrate those sporting heroes who have captured our hearts.

Here, in no particular order, we present the the 25 sportsmen who have impressed Attitude with their talents, made an impact on their sport and got us hot under the jock-strap. We’ll be bringing you five of our list each day for five days, so make sure to check back tomorrow (July 1) to see who else has made the cut.

16) Jenson Button

BUTTON

Jenson Button has shown off his cheeky smile on the podium 15 times in his impressive Formula 1 career. Top Gear named him their ‘Man of the Year’ in both 2009 and 2011, and we like to think handsomeness was the most influential factor in Clarkson’s considerations.

17) Usain Bolt

BOLT

Something of a real life Quicksilver, Jamaican running superstar Usain Bolt is the current world record holder for the 100m and 200m sprint. Having placed no lower than second in the past seven years of his professional career, Usain is a man who always likes to finish on top.

18) Steven Gerrard

GERRARD

Who cares that he might be a little older than the rest of his teammates, he can dash around the pitch with the best of them. Nor does he have the breathe in when he swaps shirts at full time. He’s the go-to former team captain who did his darndest to bring back the world cup.

19) Mo Farah

FARAH

He may be wiry of body and bald as a coot, but Mo is one of the country’s most-loved sporting heroes. The two-time European Athlete of the Year is the current Olympic gold medal holder for the 5000m and 10,000m events and finished 8th in this year’s London Marathon.

20) Tom Daley

DALEYAside from leaving us in a flustered mess, Tom is a two-time World and European gold medallist and the current Olympic bronze medallist for the 10m diving platform – not to mention an inspiration to gay youth everywhere since releasing his heartfelt coming out video last year.

Make sure you come back tomorrow (July 1), when we’ll be bringing you numbers 21-25 (and final installment!) in our list of the 25 greatest sporting heroes, in association with Holland & Barrett.
