For the month of May, Attitude online will be showing off the best of the best of 2015’s sporting heroes. Today it’s all about 24-year-old Liverpool and England midfielder Jordan Henderson.

Top sporting achievement: He has represented England at UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and has scored seven times in 55 games for club and country during the current campaign. He has just agreed a new £100,000-a-week, five-year deal with Liverpool.

Better Half: His girlfriend Rebecca keeps a low profile, but the couple celebrated the birth of their first child Elexa in July 2013.

Best Attribute: Yes he’s got great footballer legs, yes his body is lean and toned, but it’s a combination of his cute smile and tidy haircut that gets our attention.

Sporting Quote: Jordan has nothing but good words for his captain Stevie G – who he’s tipped to take over from one day. He told The Telegraph, “I watch Stevie. He’s a massive idol for a lot of people and certainly me. I look at what he does very well and try to put that into my game. He talks to me all the time, want me to improve, helps me.”

Special Weapon: His parents. Jordan’s father, Peter, played football for Durham police and his mother, Liz is a fitness instructor, so he was destined to be a sporting star. At school he also excelled at badminton and table tennis.

Style: Jordan is mostly a central midfielder, but is versatile and can also serve as a right winger, right midfielder, right and right wing back. He developed as a more creative player during his time at Liverpool.

Training Tip: Jordan trains on the grass every day, and visits the gym three or four days a week. In an interview with Amir Khan for Maxi Nutrition, he said he uses Pro Max protein shakes after gym sessions and games to make sure his body is in the right condition for the next game.

In The Game: Described as an athletic and hardworking midfielder, Henderson works hard and brings energy to the team.

Attitude: “It’s always nice to get on the scoresheet, but the most important thing – as I always say – is winning games.”
