UK Black Pride 2022: Everything you need to know

From the unmissable headliner to the after parties, we’ve got what you need to know about UK Black Pride’s in-person return.

UK Black Pride 2022 is back and in-person for the first time since 2019, after being online in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, and we’ve got all the details you need in one handy place.

Taking place on Sunday 14 August from 12pm, UK Black Pride – Europe’s largest pride celebration for LGBTQI+ people of African, Asian, Caribbean, Latin American and Middle Eastern descent – has moved from Haggerston Park to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park after more than 10,000 people attended and UK Black Pride outgrew the space. 

The move to Stratford’s Olympic Park is a marker of the event’s continued growth.

Headlining this year’s UK Black Pride is star Dréya Mac. The openly queer 21-year-old West Londoner has an exploding online fanbase and both Kehlani and Rihanna have given her their stamp of approval. 

Her widely popular single ‘Own Brand (Baddie)’, featuring FelixThe1st and Finch Fetti, went viral on TikTok and the singer and professional dancer is lined up to play an unforgettable show as she headlines UK Black Pride. 

Other acts taking to the main stage will be DJ Stacey Bee, ODC, Nyja, and Nina Rose among others. 

And for the first time UK Black Pride is introducing the DJ TENT, where there’ll be an 8-hour lineup of DJ’s for those that need to dance the day away. Including Gok Wan, DJ MIMI, and DJ TAYO.

Every year, UK Black Pride chooses an overriding theme relevant to the current moment and context for LGBTQI+ Black people and people of colour in the UK.

This year’s theme is ‘Power’ to honour “the power our communities continue to wield to ensure that our communities are defended and supported, loved and protected,” a post on UK Black Pride’s blog reads.

Following two years of virtual events, UK Black Pride is ready to get the party started with an official after-party (19+ event) taking place from 10pm to 4am at the historic nightclub Fabric.

This year’s UK Black Pride is partnering with Pxssy Palace and HUNGAMA and Nafs Space to host a night you don’t want to miss.

The space has a 2,500-person capacity so grab your tickets before they’re gone!

If you can’t wait until the night of the 14th to take to the dancefloor, lucky for you UK Black Pride has a couple of pre-Pride events to get you amped up.

Church of Yshee – Saturday 13 August

On 13 August from 8pm, head the Church of Yshee to be blessed.

The queen of the Birmingham drag scene, Yshee Black, will take you to church with her massively popular show with that will include a very special Kings and Queens of Colour edition of their legendary lip-synch battle.

Expect some surprise guests on the night and to be greeted with a welcome drink as you arrive.

Amuse Bouche and Boogie VIP event – Thursday 11 August

Expect an evening of cocktails, canapés and activism hosted by UK Black Pride’s co-founder Lady Phyll, a political activist and iconic figure in the LGBTQ+ communitiy and beyond.

Alongside discrussion, there will be performances and acts from the likes of Yshee Black, Tenaka Fuego and Jay Jay Revlon.

The event is for the community to come together and campaign for a better and more loving world for us all.

Both of these pre-Pride events are dedicating 100 percent of ticket sale revenue to UK Black Pride and Kaleidoscope Trust.
