Watch Neneh Cherry and Robyn team up for new song, video
By Nick Levine
The video for Neneh Cherry’s collaboration with Robyn, Out of the Black, has been released through Noisey. Watch it below.
Out of the Black is taken from Cherry’s first album of solo music in 18 years, Blank Project, which came out last month (February).
Dancing On My Own star Robyn is a longtime fan of Cherry, best known for the hit singles Buffalo Stance, Manchild and 7 Seconds.
Explaining why their collaboration is more subdued than fans might have expected – and not an uptempo dance track, Cherry told the Toronto Sun recently: “I think it was so right to not do that and do something that makes it a bit more meaningful.
“It’s more of a melancholy piece. It’s a bit deeper and I think that for both of us there is something quite relevant in that it is like that. And that it’s not just a piece where we are kind of jumping up and down. It’s quite connecting.”
Cherry will support her new album with festival appearances at Love Saves The Day in Bristol on May 25 and Field Day in London on June 7. Robyn is working on her follow-up to her 2010 trilogy of Body Talk albums.
