Watch Stevie Nicks’ killer ‘Edge of Seventeen’ TV performance
By Nick Levine
Stevie Nicks performed her classic single Edge of Seventeen on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night (April 9) – and it was as intense as you’d expect.
Nicks was joined for the special performance by US hip-hip/soul band The Roots, as well as by her longtime guitarist and backing singers.
Nicks wrote Edge of Seventeen in response to the death of her uncle, Jonathan, and Beatles legend John Lennon during the same week of December 1980.
Recorded for her debut solo album, 1982’s Bella Donna, it went on to become the album’s third single, peaking at number eleven on the US singles chart.
Destiny’s Child sampled the song’s distinctive chugging guitar riff for their 2001 single Bootylicious, and Lindsay Lohan covered the song on her 2005 album A Little More Personal (Raw).
Meanwhile, Stevie Nicks will embark on a North American tour with her Fleetwood Mac bandmates, including Christine McVie, from September to December this year. Click here for more details.
