What are the 25 greatest gay moments in music?
By Sam Rigby
Billboard have compiled their 25 greatest gay moments in music to coincide with Pride Month.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s 2014 Grammys performance with Madonna, which saw them serenade 33 gay and straight weddings with Same Love, is just one of the moments featured.
Glee‘s representation of the LGBT community is also acknowledged, while Ricky Martin’s decision to come out as a “fortunate homosexual man” in a 2010 letter to his fans also makes the list.
Frank Ocean’s discussion of his sexuality, and the use of ‘he’ in songs on his debut album Channel Orange, features alongside Lady Gaga’s continued campaign for LGBT rights, and Jay Z and Barack Obama’s support of same-sex marriage.
Enrique Iglesias’s performance at G-A-Y in 2007, where he serenaded, embraced and kissed a gay fan also makes the Top 25.
Speaking to Attitude about his performance at the London gay club, Enrique said: “There was this moment I’ll never forget. I was singing one of my songs and this guy just grabs my package!”
