Whitney Houston film premiere date announced

Lifetime’s Whitney Houston television movie will premiere on January 17.

Whitney is directed by the late singer’s Waiting to Exhale co-star Angela Bassett, and stars former America’s Next Top Model star Yaya DaCosta in the title role.

Meanwhile, Brotherhood actor Arlen Escarpeta will star as Houston’s husband Bobby Brown.

Bassett recently jumped to the defence of the biopic, insisting that she knows about Houston’s life as she knows “a little about being in the spotlight” – read more here.

Her comments came after Houston’s mother, Cissy, hit out at the project, saying that nobody involved “knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby [Brown]” – read the full story here.
