William Orbit blames Will.i.am for Britney album glitch?

William Orbit has hinted that he is unhappy with his work on Britney Spears’ latest album.

The songwriter-producer, famous for his collaborations with Madonna (Ray of Light) and All Saints (Pure Shores), worked with Britney on a track called Alien – rumoured to be the album’s third single.

The track leaked shortly before the December 2 release of the album, titled Britney Jean, and featured unedited vocals from the singer. After the release of the album, fans complained that the track had been altered to feature Auto-Tune effects on Britney’s vocals and an inexplicable jump in the track.

In a series of passive aggressive Twitter posts yesterday (January 25), Orbit appeared to suggest that the track’s imperfections are attributable to will.i.am, who served as the album’s executive producer.

“Remember ‘Glitchgate’? I assure you all that there will.be.no more glitches,” Orbit posted, before adding: “One day the story will.be.told. But right now, the future is far too bright to look back.”

He then continued: “If yr familiar my workings over the years, u’ll know I’m usually in a position to intercept rogue glitches before they land. 50 shades of glitch! From ones the size of a full stop, to cataclysmic ones, I’ll share some perspectives in my book.”

Britney Jean debuted at Number 34 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart in December, becoming her lowest charting album to date. The singer has since kicked off her Britney: Piece Of Me residency in Las Vegas, to largely positive reviews.
