Bette Midler hits back at Kim Kardashian’s claim she tried to ‘fake friend’ her

Aftershocks from this week’s unlikely clash between Kim Karsdashian and Bette Midler had continued to be felt overnight, after Midler hits back at the reality star’s claims she tried to ‘fake friend’ her.
Things all kicked off on Monday this week after Kardashian – who shot to fame in 2007 after the release of a sex tape with her ex-boyfriend Ray J – posted a nude selfie on Instagram, prompting Midler to tweet: “If Kim wants us to see a part of her we’ve never seen, she’s gonna have to swallow the camera.”
Kardashian bit back, however, telling the 70-year-old Beaches star that it was ‘past her bedtime’, before accusing her of previously trying to pursue a ‘”fake” friendship by sending gifts her way.
Not one to see her good name sullied, The Divine Miss M has now responded to the slight.
.@KimKardashian: I never tried to fake friend you. Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke…

“I never tried to fake friend you,” she wrote on Twitter yesterday (March 8). “Looks like anyone can take a selfie by not everyone can take a joke…”
Kim meanwhile, spent the day insisting that she does in fact have a personality.
Wait I can’t believe people thought Kanye or Khloe hacked my Twitter. I swear I’m funny too!!!

It’s not the first time that Bette’s razor-sharp tweets have attracted attention – she’s previously taken aim at everyone from Caitlyn Jenner to Justin Bieber’s dad, following his creepy response to his son’s nude photo leak.
She might be stepping away from social media before too long though, after confirming to fans last month that she’ll be returning to New York City to star in a Broadway revival of iconic ’60s musical Hello Dolly!
