Céline Dion chokes back tears as she performs ‘My Heart Will Go On’ at Billboard Music Awards
By Will Stroude
The Billboard Music Awards transported audiences back to 1997 last night as Céline Dion brought the house down with a haunting rendition of ‘My Heart Will Go On’.
On a night that saw Icon Award-winner Cher treat viewers to some of her biggest hits, including ‘Believe’ and ‘Turn Back Time’, Dion kept the blasts from the past coming with an emotional performance of her signature hit from Titanic in the film’s 20th anniversary year.
The legendary singer treated viewers to a live rendition of the song usually reserved for audiences at her long-running Las Vegas residency at The Coliseum at Caesar’s Palace.
Surrounded by a curtain of light which ascended above her in time for that key change, Dion – who lost her husband René Angélil and brother Daniel to cancer last year – appeared visibly emotional as she finished the performance, which received a well-deserved standing ovation.
Step back in time and check it out below (oh, and tell Kate Winslet that door has enough room for two while you’re there).
