Republicans at a Conservative Conference get trolled on Grindr for trans discrimination
By Darren Mew
Last week, Donald Trump made his overt first attack on the rights of LGBT people.
The White House is set to revoke landmark guidelines introduced by President Obama advising public schools to let transgender students use the bathroom of their choice.
However, this week was also the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC 2017) which is one of the largest Republican gatherings of the year.
The Human Right Campaign decided to use this as opportunity to do some targeted advertising towards those attending the conference.
According to a post on Reddit, the US’s largest LGBT+ charities sent out an add in the area where the conference was being held in Alexandria.
The add read: ATTENTION: CPAC ATTENDEES. You can’t be WITH US in the hotel room and AGAINST US in the CPAC ballroom.”
So the HRC sent this ad out on Grindr in the Alexandria area this morning… from lgbt
The add seems to be attacking republicans who are anti-LGBTQ+ when it comes to policies and equality but are gay in the bedroom department.
The response to the targeted add have gone down tell with fellow Reddit users.
One user said: “Good to see. I’m tired of allowing politicians attacking the gay community in public and privately having same-sex relationships. It is about time they are shamed publicly.”
While another commenter said: “This is fantastic. Gets the message to those who need to hear it most.”
And the question on everyone’s minds was left by this user who wrote: “Who’s that marketing genius?!”
